Information about the hike

This hike to the highest waterfall in Bulgaria, Skaklya waterfall, features amazing views across Vratsa and its "Vratsa Balkan" mountain range.

The hike has a moderate intensity and starts off with a path next to a river which you will follow upstream. Be sure to wear stable shoes as the path is pretty rocky at some parts. The path gets more steep until you reach a shelter near the highest point. From this point onwards, the hike is relatively easy and mostly downhill.

When you reach the shelter, you can go left to check an optional viewpoint. This viewpoint is also on the GPS track. If you have the time for it, it's worth it to go there and back. It will take about 20-30 minutes. This time is included in the hike time.

Getting back

In case you came by train, the ending point of the GPS track is just 15 minutes (1.5 km) away from the train station. In case you came by car, you can walk back to the car in 40 minutes (3.0 km) or alternatively order a taxi for 5 - 10 BGN.
