Information about the hike
This hike close to Sofia starts from the bus stop at Hotel Moreni. After just a few minutes of walking from the bus stop uphill, following the GPS track, you pass by Aleko hut. At Aleko hut, it is possible to buy food and drinks.
During this hike you can admire many panoramic views. In the beginning of the hike, you have views over Sofia on your left. On a clear day you can also see the Stara Planina mountain range on the horizon behind Sofia. Upon reaching hut Fizkulturnik in the last part of the hike, you have a great view over the Eastern section of the Vitosha mountain with the Rila mountain range on the horizon when the weather is clear. The hut is usually closed.
The first section of the hike is slightly uphill, but barely noticable. The latter part of the hike has a steeper descend, but nothing extraordinary.
If you prefer to have more ascend than descend, you can undertake this hike in the reverse direction as well.
Getting back
